How to configure prayer times accurately
Understand city selection, calculation methods, Asr settings, and why app times can differ from local official schedules.
Start with the right city
In the prayer section, check the city displayed above your daily times. You can choose a city manually or grant location access to help select one. Latitude and longitude affect solar times, including sunrise and sunset.
When traveling, confirm that the selected city matches where you are. Do not assume the location has changed automatically. If you follow your local mosque or religious authority, compare the app with that authority’s official timetable.
Understand calculation methods
Fajr and Isha calculations depend on different astronomical conventions, and published schedules may vary by organization. Select the method recommended by your local authority rather than arbitrarily adjusting every time.
Asr calculations can also differ according to the school setting. If you see a consistent difference of a few minutes, review the adjustment values before changing cities.
Check the next prayer and alerts
After changing location or calculation settings, review the next prayer time. If push reminders are enabled, the phone needs a valid subscription and connectivity to receive them. Delivery can be delayed by mobile operating-system settings.
You can test local display and schedule a clearly marked test reminder through diagnostics. A test reminder is not an actual prayer time.
A short checklist
Check the city, time zone, calculation method, Asr setting and manual minute adjustments. Compare at least one prayer with a timetable from a trusted local authority.
When reporting a discrepancy, include your city, chosen method, and the affected prayer, but do not send unnecessary precise location details.
